Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 27 – In what is seen as a further step after posting a message on her Facebook page earlier that she would like to get authorization to start and manage the long-delayed opposition television, the young opposition activist Thy Sovantha said yesterday she would be willing to contribute her own fund to support news production program, once CNRP’s Sun Television goes on air.
“Once the Sun Television starts its broadcast, I will be willing to sell off one of my family’s pepper farms for $200,000 and use the mount to fund the TV news production program of the,” said Thy Sovantha on her Facebook page on Feb.26.
Sovantha earlier posted on her Facebook page that she would like to request for the authorization to undertake the management of CNRP’s TV project so that it would move faster. “I would like to request for the authorization to manage CNRP’s TV project, known as the Sun Television, with a view to restoring CNRP’s credibility and making the TV operational within six month,” she wrote.
In the following day, on Feb. 26, CNRP Youth’s Facebook group posted a petition in support of Thy Sovantha to be the leader and manager of CNRP’s TV project. “Sovantha’s commitment, credibility, and capability are qualified enough to be director of CRNP’s Sun Television,” stated the petition.
As of today, Feb.27, there has been yet no report on official reaction, or feedback from the opposition party leadership to her demand and to the petition.
