Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 26 – While the Political Science Freshman of Khemarak University has reportedly confessed to the judges that he did commit an offense through his Facebook page by calling for a color revolution against the government and was seeking a lenient sentence, Judge Heng Sokna said the verdict would come out on March 15.
Kong Raya, 26, with Facebook name as “Soriya Koko” has reportedly made the confession at a hearing held by Phnom Penh Municipal court in the morning of Feb.26.
He was arrested on Aug. 22, 2015 and held in detention by the court since then for “Provocation to Commit Crimes” under Article 494 and Article 495 of the Penal code.
The offense is punishable by imprisonment from six (6) months to two (2) years with a fine of one (1) million Riels to four (4) million Riels.
“Who dare to join me for a color revolution? One day in the future, I will undertake a color revolution to bring changes to Cambodia, regardless of what would happen to me: death or imprisonment,” Kong Raya wrote in his Facebook page.
